Vaccines needed by age

Vaccinations are needed to prevent the spreading and receiving of certain diseases. Many kids are going back to school soon and they will be needing their shots before returning to the classroom.
Vaccines were discovered following the outbreak of deadly diseases. Vaccines are now widely used to keep the world healthy and disease free.

Below are the following immunizations needed by age before returning back to school:

Vaccines for kindergarteners:

Diphtheria
Tetanus
Pertussis (whooping cough)
Hepatitis B
Measles
Mumps
Rubella (German measles)
Polio
Varicella (chickenpox)

Depending on which state you live in, your kindergartener may need these other vaccinations too:

Hepatitis A
Haemophilus Influenza type B (Hib)
Pneumococcal disease

Vaccines for Middle School And High School Students

Many states require a booster shot which is essentially a vaccine to protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis.
Younger children are given the DTaP and older children receive a similar vaccine called the Tdap. This protects against lingering effects from previous immunizations the child has already gotten.
One third of states also require a shot against meningococcal disease. Meningococcal disease is a bacterial illness that is spread person-to-person (for example, by saliva or respiratory excretions).
As always, schools do check for the vaccine against chicken pox which your child probably already received.
As your child enters high school, you should consider getting them the HPV vaccination.

The most common vaccine needed for college students is the immunization against meningococcal disease.
