Daylight Savings: What is it and Why do we follow it?

Daylight savings time was invented to make the best use of daylight hours. Benjamin Franklin created the concept of daylight saving time, according to NASA, and it has been used throughout much of the U.S., Canada and Europe since World War I.

March 11, 2018 – Daylight Saving Time Starts When local standard time is about to reach Sunday, March 11, 2018, 2:00:00 am clocks are turned forward1 hour to Sunday, March 11, 2018, 3:00:00 am local daylight time instead.

Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour later on Mar 11, 2018 than the day before. There will be more light in the evening.

Most Americans will be moving their clocks forward on Sunday morning for daylight savings time, but at least two U.S. states are looking to end the tradition of re-setting the time twice a year. Florida and Massachusetts are planning to stay on daylight savings tiem all year-round. States can follow day light savings time all year round by passing a law.
