According to cancer.org, acrylamide is, “a chemical used mainly in certain industrial processes, such as in making paper, dyes, and plastics, and in treating drinking water and wastewater. There are small amounts in some consumer products, such as caulk, food packaging, and some adhesives. Acrylamide is also found in cigarette smoke.”
“Coffee has been shown, over and over again, to be a healthy beverage,” said William Murray, President & CEO of the National Coffee Association (NCA) in a statement, in response to the recent verdict. “This lawsuit has made a mockery of Prop 65, has confused consumers, and does nothing to improve public health.”
