Seasons are changing, which means the likelihood of catching a cold or some sort of illness has increased. If you’re worried about getting sick during the change from Fall to Winter follow Cosmo’s tips to staying healthy and germ-free!
Wash and Repeat
Always remember to wash your hand regularly with soap and water. You should wash your hands for at least 20 seconds to completely get off any bacteria you may have come in contact with during the day. It will greatly reduce your chances of getting an infection.
You may also use hand sanitizer, but also keep in mind that sanitizers don’t remove chemicals and may not disinfect certain organisms such as Norovirus and aren’t as effective when hands are visibly dirt
Consider the Flu Shot
The start of winter is also the climax of another season, flu season. If you haven’t gotten your flu shot yet, now is the time. Up to 20 percent of Americans come down with the flu every year, and there are signs this flu season could be rough. Visit a medical professional or go down to your local CVS and get a flu shot to protect yourself.
Sleep and Eat Well
Parents should also make sure that their children and themselves are getting enough sleep and are eating healthy foods. Kids should eat a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and also lean meats or eggs. It will help them to have a better immunity and allow them to recover from sicknesses quicker.
You should also drink plenty of water and avoid excessive sugars.
