President trump signed a bill into law on Wednesday that will ultimately give Veterans more leverage to seeing doctors outside of the Veterans Affairs system. This will hopefully reduce wait times and improve care by steering patients to the private sector.

The vote which was approved by the Senate on a 92-5 vote will expand a VA caregivers program to cover families of veterans of all eras.
This plan will cost about $51 million.

Veterans groups cheered the legislation as major step toward improving veterans care.

“This historic legislation will help our veterans get the care they earned,” said Keith Harman, national commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
