The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) has now just released an Earned Sick Leave Notice for all employers to utilize for the new Paid Sick Leave Act law, which takes effect October 29, 2018. Here’s what you should know about the posting and distribution requirement for employers:
– The notice must be distributed to all existing employees within 30 days of when it goes into effect (November 29, 2018)
– The notice must be distributed to all new employees at the time of hire
– The notice must posted of employee rights in a conspicuous place accessible to all employees in each of the employer’s workplaces place (such as a breakroom or conference room) by October 29, 2018

As previously stated, the Act will go into effect on October 29, 2018. New Jersey employers should review and adjust their paid time off policies to comply with the Act’s requirements prior to this date.
