1. Convenience

Consumers are increasingly turning to convenient health care options when they need to see a doctor. 25% of Americans currently use or have used a retail clinic, and 42% currently use or have used an urgent care clinic. While most people still rely on a primary care doctor as their entry point into the health care system, younger consumers are increasingly choosing care based on ease and convenience rather than a long-term relationship. 28% of people under 35 say that they don’t have a primary care doctor, compared to 10% of people over 55.

2. Personalization

According to Deloitte’s 2016 Consumer Priorities in Health Care Survey, personalized experiences are the top priority for people of all ages. Consumers want help finding the right doctor, hospital, or treatment facility for their specific condition. Consumers want to be heard, understood, and given clear,  directions on what to do.

3. Technology

Consumers are increasingly relying on the web. 52% of consumers report searching online for health care or wellness information, and 27.6% of younger consumers say they self-diagnose before seeing a doctor in person. Consumers are also seeking tech-enabled health care options. In 2015, there were over 1.25 million telemedicine visits (a consultation with a doctor via phone or video) in the United States, and that number is expected to grow to more than 7 million by the end of 2018.

4. Transparency

With health care costs on the rise, consumers want to know what things they are paying for and why. They want a clear understanding of which doctors are taking their insurance, what benefits are covered by their plan, and how much a medical procedure will cost at a given hospital.

5. Education

Many consumers, especially those under 35, get lost in the complexity of the health care system when trying to make smart health care decisions. According to a 2015 study from NBER, employees generally picked health insurance plans that weren’t cost-effective based on their actual medical spending.

Cosmo’s dedicated service doesn’t end with the selection and signing of your policy. Whether its healthcare, life insurance, long term care, vision, dental, or disability,  Cosmo Insurance Agency will be there every step of the way.
