The second round of stimulus checks started to go out to millions of Americas as of last night, according to tweets from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The $600 stimulus payments may begin arriving as early as last night for some and will continue next week. Paper checks will start to be mailed Wednesday, December 30.
Eligible individuals will automatically receive a stimulus check of up to $600 for individuals, $1,200 for married couples, and up to $600 for each qualifying child dependent. Dependents who are 17 and up are not eligible for the payment. Qualified gross income for 2019 is up to $75,000 for individuals and up to $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns will receive the full amount of the second payment. For individuals with income above those amounts may receive a payment, but it will be reduced.
There is no action required for eligible individuals; some Americans may see the direct deposit payments as pending in their accounts before the official payment date of January 4, 2021. As with the first round of payments under the CARES Act, most recipients will receive these payments by direct deposit.
