CarePoint Health have reached an agreement with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey that will hold through for three years. The agreement entails that the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey will be able to access CarePoint Health facilities on an in-network bases, which includes elective and emergency procedures. This agreement will begin October 1, 2017 and allow CarePoint to devote themselves to the people of New Jersey.
The agreement is the conclusion to a $76 million legal fight between Horizon and CarePoint Health and will provide new hospital options for thousands in the Hudson County.
What are each sides’ benefits that they will receive from this settlement?
CarePoint health will receive a large cash settlement and a likely increase in patient volume. While Horizon will benefit by having a reduction in the volume out-of-network bill CarePoint hospitals submit. This means that now all 72 of New Jersey’s hospitals are within Horizon’s network.
