UnitedHealth and Walgreens Team up to Create Urgent Care Centers in Their Drugstores
UnitedHealth and Walgreens plan to connect primary care with their drug stores. As of right now this is just a test run and is only operating in sixteen locations.
Like CVS and Aetna, UnitedHealth and Walgreens plan to make health care more accessible by providing urgent care at your corner drug store.
UnitedHealth CEO David Wichmann explained, “This is just part of developing an overall higher performing local health system, it’d just be one component that may be nested inside a local care delivery market with ambulatory surgical capacities and house calls and things of that nature. This is the future health system that we see delivering considerable value to people.”
UnitedHealth plans to expand their partnership to other drugstore chains, retailers, and health systems. These partnerships are the beginning of a new health care era.
