Sunburn is a common hazard that happens to most of us in the summer. The best way to tackle sunburn is to prevent it. Apply sunscreen liberally every two hours. Re-applying is important to keeping harmful UV rays from burning and damaging your skin.
If you do get burned, there are ways to heal and calm the aching pain that comes with sunburn. Applying a cold compress directly to the affected area will calm the burn. Using aloe vera on your sunburn will hydrate your skin and prevent the burn from getting worse.
Remember to protect your eyes from the sun too. Purchase sunglasses that will protect your eyes from UV rays. UV rays can cause permanent damage to your eyes if you do not guard them from the sun.
Ticks-
Summer is the peak season for ticks to come out. Do routine ticks checks to ensure that you remove them from you or your family member before they bite you. Many deer ticks carry the terrible lyme disease.
If you notice flu-like symptoms and/or a rash, one that specifically looks like a bull’s eye, see your doctor immediately.
Band-aids and blisters-
Keeping a first aid kit handy can benefit your family in during an accident. Summer is the season to get outside and enjoy yourself, but it is also a time where kids fall and get hurt.
Stock up on the necessities such as bandages, cotton swabs, gauze pads and antibiotic ointment, but also include cortisone cream to treat bee stings and bug bites. Another big one that’s often left out is aspirin.
If someone is having a heart attack, have them chew on aspirin to slow down or stop the process of a heart attack from happening.
Tweezers are another tool that people should have on hand in case of a tick bite.
