4th Largest Hospital Chain Coming to NJ

The healthcare industry in New Jersey is growing more and more as time goes on. The state of New Jersey will soon have the fourth largest healthcare chain in a state in which merger have become routine business. Cooper University Health will acquire three Catholic hospitals in Central and South Jersey. These hospitals include Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, Lourdes Medical Center in Burlington in Willingboro, and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton. The merger will create a $2 entity that will stretch from Mercer to the Atlantic counties.
Cooper Board Chairman George Norcross said the planned acquisition will create a $2 billion entity stretching from Mercer to Atlantic counties, employing 12,000, not including a network of 875 doctors.
But before this can take place, the merger needs to be approved by Christie’s administration and reviewed by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
Once the merger takes effect, the Trenton residents will benefit a great deal as they have had little local access to obstetrical care in the past.

If the Cooper University Health merger is the fourth largest merger in New Jersey, then what are the top?

Well, the largest healthcare merger that has taken place in New Jersey is Robert Wood Johnson University Health and Barnabas Health while the second largest is the merger between Hackensack and Meridian Health.
