We need your voice to help oppose A-4389/S-2676 legislation. This legislation would impose a tax of 2.75% on various health benefit plans’ net written premiums.
As a MEWA, MHPNJ is included in the entities covered under the bill and obligated to pay this tax. This tax will inevitably be passed on to consumers. If enacted, this measure will increase the cost of health benefit coverage for small employers and their employees at a time when health benefit coverage has never been more important. This tax will have a direct impact on you, your clients and your employees.
On Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 1pm the Senate Commerce Committee will consider the above-referenced legislation. Members of the public are invited to submit testimony and comments to the Office of Legislative Services. Instructions on how to do so are below.
Due to the public health emergency, the State House Annex is closed to the public. The public is encouraged to submit written testimony electronically in lieu of oral testimony. Written testimony will be included in the Committee record and distributed to the Committee Members.
