Summer is here! The weather is warm, kids are out from school, and the beaches are packed. Health is important all year round, but especially when the weather is hot. Follow these five tips to sticking to a healthy lifestyle in the summer time.
1. Incorporate more berries in your diet
Work towards improving your diet in the summertime. Berries are in season and that makes them sweet and juicy. There are a ton of varieties including: blackberries, blueberries, or strawberries. They’ll help you load up on antioxidants, which may help prevent damage to tissues and reduce the risks of age-related illnesses.
2. Stress Less
Try gardening to get your stress under control. Plant some herbs, flowers, or bushes. Many people find the act of gardening a stress reducer. Summer is the perfect time to garden because of the hot sun.
3. Floss more
We all know your dentist tells you to floss to ensure your oral health is up to par. Flossing reduces oral bacteria, which improves overall body health, and if oral bacteria is low, your body has more resources to fight bacteria elsewhere.
4. Get outside and exercise
There are so many physical activities you can do in the summer. Go hiking in the mountains, go swimming in the ocean, or take a jog by the beach. You can even get your family involved to keep everyone health and in shape this summer.
